Fintech Law

Our Fintech practice draws on over two decades of Morten’s expertise in guiding clients through the digital transformation of financial services. His career covers the entire spectrum of digital finance innovation—from providing advice in relation to pioneering e-banking platforms to advanced payment systems, innovative crowdfunding solutions, and crypto exchanges and issuers.

Morten’s key practice areas include Payment Services, and Digital Currencies & Virtual Asset Service Providers (VASPs). In the Payment Services domain, he has helped global players devise market entry and expansion strategies, notably guiding Apple during the launch of Apple Pay in Norway.

His diverse client portfolio ranges from global institutions such as the major global card schemes, PayPal, Worldpay, Stripe, and Klarna, to cutting-edge startups like Climatepoint, Spense, Billogram, and Zimpler. Morten’s deep expertise in financial, company, and financial regulatory law empowers established players to adapt in dynamic markets while enabling emerging ventures to thrive in an increasingly interconnected financial ecosystem.

In the rapidly evolving digital currency space, Morten has provided extensive advice on tokenisation and crypto currencies. He has been instrumental in establishing Norwegian operations for several clients; for instance, he assisted Bitpanda in preparing and submitting its VASP application to the Norwegian Financial Supervisory Authority. This effort led Bitpanda to become the first non-local firm to secure a Norwegian VASP license in October 2023. Additionally, he advises digital currency exchanges and payment platforms, including Norwegian Block Exchange, and played a key role in orchestrating the first Norwegian ICO (Akeo/Bulltoken).
